# Reboot & Resume

The installers are stateful so host-level changes that require reboot do not force the entire deployment to restart.

## Current reboot points

The current scripts configure automatic reboot after:

* **Step 3** — NIC rename / ifupdown conversion and network configuration
* **Step 5** — kernel tuning

The exact step names differ slightly by installer, but these IDs are consistent across the active families.

## After reboot

Run the **same installer** again from the same source and state context, then choose **Auto Execute All Steps**. The installer starts from the first incomplete step.

## State semantics

Completed state is persisted only after a step reaches its successful completion path. A failed or canceled step should not advance the completed-step marker.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Do not manually edit the state file merely to bypass a failed step. Correct the underlying condition and re-run the affected step.
