# Storage & Performance

The installers prepare local VM storage and, for performance-sensitive paths, tune CPU and device placement.

## LVM

Depending on topology, the installer can create LVM-backed storage for:

* DL root/data
* DA root/data
* AIO
* Sensor VM images/data

Before execution, confirm the selected block devices and existing volume groups. Do not assume an unallocated disk is safe to reuse without reviewing the host.

## CPU and NUMA

The active installers can calculate or apply CPU placement where appropriate. AIO + Sensor and DP paths may use CPU affinity to keep performance-sensitive workloads aligned with the intended hardware layout.

## SR-IOV and PCI passthrough

Before enabling direct device assignment:

* enable IOMMU in BIOS
* inspect IOMMU groups
* confirm the NIC is dedicated to the target VM role
* verify the host will retain management connectivity
* plan how the device is restored if rollback is required
